Portfolio > Mezzotints

Mezzotint – a drypoint process accomplished by going from black to white. First, using a specialized tool called a ‘rocker’, innumerable tiny dots that hold ink are cut into the plate surface then burnished (smoothed) to hold less or no ink. The depth of the dots determines the shades of black-gray-white. 2. a print made by this process.
