These 18" x 18" Mudras are from a series of ten different images in Editions of 15. Each is multi-media - Etching, Carborundum Collagraph, Gesso Collagraph, Hand-coloring, with chine colle. Some include Stencil, some Drypoint. All combined the same architecture or structure = printing and drying between each stage of the 2 different halves. The left panel was printed on a separate sheet of paper (St Armand handmade). The right panel had one element printed directly on the backing paper, allowed to dry, then the chine colle done concurrent with printing another element atop the asian paper (different for each of these Mudras). When all was dry, the two halves were glued onto the backing paper (St Armand handmade) through the press.
A mudra (Sanskrit) is a symbolic or ritual gesture or pose, usually referring to a hand or finger and means a mark or gesture.
David made other Mudra prints at Yama.
